CMPLT UNKNWN is founded on passion, beauty, art, poetry, rock n roll, ethics, craftsmanship and unique design. We believe that luxury is synonymous with sustainability and vegan can be sexy and edgy. We want our customers to be seduced by the provocative beauty, exhilarating detail and superlative quality of our products. Our company’s obsession with using organic materials, chemical-free processes and ethical business practices should come as a bonus.

A team with a decade-long experience in handcrafted luxury launched CMPLT UNKNWN. Our other company, Lost City Products, is the leading source of embroidered fabric and furnishings for the interior design industry and is known for reviving hand-embroidery as a traditional art and craft in Lucknow, India. With Lost City we have built a reputation for premium quality, sophisticated sensibility and for incorporating ancient embroidery techniques to create a wide range of cutting-edge modern designs.

Our main goal with CMPLT UNKNWN is to create collectible fashion accessories of superlative quality created by fairly paid artisans with no harm to the environment or animals. With our existing collections we have not yet achieved zero-impact on the environment but strive on a daily basis to achieve this goal. We source quality materials that are toxic-free and employ adult craftspeople we have supported and trained, who earn a reasonable living in plying their trade.

Above and beyond everything else, CMPLT UNKNWN has a rock n roll heart that beats for love, music, art and beauty. We hope our customers take as much pleasure in owning our products as we did in creating them.

Our clutches are made of imported black vegan nappa leather or Italian vegan leather lame sourced from Italy. They are lined with high-quality nylon. The hardware consists of Japanese zippers and silver, black or gold coated brass spikes. If embroidered, we use metallic or cotton wire. The clutches are assembled and stitched by hand using non-toxic glue.

Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, India, was the last bastion of the Mughal empire and is still one of its centers of art and culture and specially famous for it’s hand-embroidery techniques including the “chikankari”, “zardozi” and “”aari” styles. The craft had its golden age during the 60s and 70s when the remaining royal families of the state were patrons of the arts, and ceremonial dress was usually embellished by exquisite hand embroidery. The families engaged in embroidery have inherited the craft from their ancestors whose lineage can be traced to the 17th century when the Mughal kings ruled India. Over the years however the lack of government support and rapid proliferation of cheaper, less artful machine-embroidery has driven traditional craftspeople into poverty and forced the majority of them to take up alternative livelihoods.

All of our embroidery is done in Lucknow and the cutting, hardware assembly and finishing in Calcutta.

CMPLT UNKNWN products are hand embroidered by artisans in Lucknow, and sewn in Kolkata, West Bengal. We are resuscitating an industry that has produced some of the most sophisticated works of embroidery for the attire of Kings and adorned walls of royal tents, scabbards, wall hangings, and the paraphernalia of regal elephants and horses.

We are proud to support a vanishing craft and create products of extreme beauty that hark back to a kind of luxury that is unique, enduring and sustainable.
