Our obsession with vintage insect illustrations led us to the highly stylized renditions of Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Herbst, a German naturalist and entomologist (1743-1807). Complete Unknown artisans embroidered a fantasia of scorpions from Mr. Herbst’s drawings, to define crossbody and clutch bags in the Animal Kingdom collection. Worked up on smooth eco-leather and velvets, these variations of scorpions are symbolic of wisdom, sensuality, and strength- fit for a modern day goddess.
