Cyrus Kabiru is a self-taught artist who creates spectacular eyewear made from found and recycled materials. Extravagant and futuristic, Kabiru’s ‘C-Stunners’ are crafted from things he found on the streets of his hometown of Nairobi, Kenya. His creative  process is  born from a desire to push the boundaries of conventional craftsmanship and construct objects of lasting, personal value from industrial detritus. Kabiru’s practice is deeply tied to Afrofuturism, a genre that combines science fiction, magical realism, and historical fiction with the culture and politics of the African diaspora.
